Abu Tahir, experiencing high blood pressure and persistent vomiting, prompted the pilot to redirect the aircraft toward Mumbai. Despite seeking permission for a humanitarian landing, the Mumbai Air Traffic Controller initially hesitated and requested details about the affected passenger. However, due to the presence of Bengali passengers on board, the Indian authorities refused entry into their territory.
Subsequently, following instructions from the Mumbai ATC, the pilot sought permission from the Karachi Air Traffic Controller, leading the plane to land at Jinnah International Airport at 7:28 am. The Civil Aviation Authority’s medical team promptly attended to the emergency, providing medical aid to Abu Tahir. After the necessary medical examination and care, the flight resumed its journey to Riyadh from Karachi.

The flight, SV 805 bound for Riyadh, took off from Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital, at 3:57 am. The incident occurred in Indian airspace when a 44-year-old Bangladeshi passenger, identified as Abu Tahir, fell seriously ill. According to airline sources, Tahir was suffering from high blood pressure and persistent vomiting.
In response to the passenger’s health crisis, the pilot redirected the aircraft towards Mumbai and sought permission from the Air Traffic Controller in Mumbai for an emergency humanitarian landing. The request was made as a precautionary measure to address the urgent medical situation series.
